Golf Courses | Top 5 Communities in the East Valley | Arizona

I  was raised in the East Valley and grew up golfing here, with over 325 days of sunshine and an average rainfall of 71/2 inches per year I played a lot.

As Jack Nicklaus perfectly states, “From well-conditioned greens and fairways, to breathtaking scenery, to outstanding weather, Arizona golf is truly an enjoyable experience.”

Here are a list of my favorite golf courses to play in the East Valley:

1. Alta Mesa Country Club:  Alta Mesa was built in the early 1980’s, during the peak of the Real Estate boom. A signature community of the East Valley, it has consistently ranked among the top golf courses in the state. Alta Mesa provides magnificent course architecture woven throughout a beautiful residential development. This unique layout & design provides a unique experience for all golfers. And thanks to top notch practice facilities and PGA instruction, Alta Mesa has developed some of the finest golfers in the state of Arizona. More than a golf course or country club, Alta Mesa Estates & Clubhouse Village is truly an original concept in lifestyle, family, and community. Search homes for sale in Alta Mesa today.

2. Las Sendas:  Las Sendas Golf Course is a classic desert layout offering breathtaking views of the greater Metro Phoenix area. It has been rated by several publications as the most scenic course in Arizona.  Also the 12th toughest golf course in the state of Arizona. Las Sendas is located in far Northeast Mesa. The higher elevation and desert landscape at Las Sendas demonstrate the best Arizona golf has to offer. Las Sendas is also a prestigious residential destination. Some of Mesa’s largest and most expensive custom homes can be found in this community, along with a variety of pre-planned subdivisions, schools, and parks.

3. Seville:  Seville Golf & Country Club is located in Southeast Gilbert along the base of the San Tan Mountains. This desert mountain backdrop is a perfect complement to the course, and reinforces the resort-style, vacation environment promoted by the Seville community. In addition to a championship golf course, Seville offers tennis, swimming, fitness, and fine dining for its members and guests. The centerpiece of the community is a 30,000 square foot clubhouse with 50-foot tall bell towers, terraces, arched walkways and incredible views. This state of the art facility offers a large, but cozy, gathering place for club members and residents alike.   Sevile Video

4. Longbow:  Another East Valley gem, Longbow golf club offers an outstanding Arizona golf experience with outstanding scenery. Redesigned in 2003, the theme at Longbow is variety. Golfers of all skill levels can play this course time and time again without taking the same shot twice. Rolling fairways and strategically placed bunkers make this course challenging and fun. In 2007 Golfweek magazine named it “One of the Top 20 Courses in Arizona.”  Like its neighbor Las Sendas, Longbow offers beautiful views of the city in a desert style landscape. In addition to a full retail pro shop, the clubhouse at Longbow offers formal and casual dining.

5. Trilogy:  Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch offers a little bit of everything for golfers of all of every skill level. In addition to the natural desert landscape of the San Tan Mountains and Queen Creek wash, Trilogy offers a wide variety of golf shots that will require every club from tee to green. Located in the Southeastern part of the valley, Trilogy at Power Ranch weaves through a beautifully designed Shea Homes residential community, while maintaining and capturing the gorgeous outdoor Arizona scenery. The clubhouse is highlighted by the outstanding cuisine of The Slate bistro and bar. With a full slate of amenities and social activities year round, Trilogy at Power Ranch offers a unique and complete experience for the golfer and resident.

To finish out a top 10 here are some of my other favorites:

6. Ocotillo
7. Superstition Mountain
8. Gold Canyon
